GOAL hosted the Second Annual Drag Brunch Fundraiser on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5. It was a huge success! More than 300 people came out to see local drag performers Daught Ladell, Vinchell, and Bev, all while helping to raise over $13,800! The money raised from this event will allow GOAL to continue the important work of advocacy, education, and community outreach. Donations will also support the Dante Austin Memorial Scholarship Fund, in honor of former GOAL member and Philadelphia Deputy Sherrif, Dante Austin.
Donations from the Iganural Drag Bunch event allowed GOAL to provide LGBTQ+ cultural humility training to first responder trainees and in-service personnel throughout the Delaware Valley and give back to the community in a number of ways. GOAL provided a holiday meal to residents at the Quads Housing, an LGBTQ home for youth ages 18-21 transitioning out of foster care, attended the William Way Summer Vibes Block Party and provided instruction on “Hands Only CPR,” taught Stop the Bleed Skills, and distributed NARCAN, and hosted an inter-generational event with the William Way LGBTQIA+ Elder Initiative. GOAL believes that connecting with the community in these ways helps to lessen the divide between the LGBTQ+ community and first responders.
Stay tuned to email and social media for information on the Drag Brunch for 2023! It will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2023.
