About Us

What does G.O.A.L. do?

The mission of the Gay Officers Action League (GOAL) of Greater Philadelphia is to advocate for and on behalf of LGBTQ+ first responders and military members, help educate first responders in LGBTQ+ competency, and provide community outreach to advance relations between the LGBTQ+ public and first responder agencies. We do this in a variety of ways. We provide advice and referrals, teach classes, hold info sessions, attend community events and give back to the community.

"The Pursuit"

The Pursuit is a history of LGBTQ+ rights in Philadelphia. It features some of the history of GOAL and features several past and present GOAL members sharing their story of being a member of the LGBTQ+ and being on the police department. The Pursuit is a reflection on the fight for LGBT rights, more than 50 years since protesters gathered in front of Independence Hall and called for an end to discrimination against homosexuals. Contrasting stories from LGBT experiences past and present, a complex and vibrant picture emerges that demonstrates both how far the community has come and how far there is left to go
