Flyers Pride Night Celebration

Updated: Jun 11, 2023

On January 17th, 2023, Greater Philly GOAL had the honor of attending the Flyers Pride Night celebration. The day began with GOAL members participating in a skate around with LGBTQ+ youth from various high schools throughout Philadelphia. Two-time Stanley Cup Champion Bob "The Hound" Kelly and two-time Stanley Cup finalist Brad Marsh also joined the fun. The groups then had the opportunity to tour the Wells Fargo Center and enjoy the displays of Pride throughout the stadium.

Seeing the large Progress Pride Flyers symbol on the ice before the game got everyone excited, and the Flyers didn't disappoint, winning the game 5-2! The group also witnessed Kevin Hayes netting his first career hat trick. After the game, everyone was invited to a meet and greet with James van Riemsdyk and Scott Laughton, Flyers Pride Night hosts. The Flyers organization presented GOAL with a $5,000 donation. These funds will support GOAL's mission of advocating for LGBTQ+ first responders and military members, educating first responders in LGBTQ+ cultural humility, providing community outreach, and establishing a scholarship in memory of founding member Dante M. Austin.
